Val sighed inwardly as yet more candidates came in, the place was beginning to look like a city. The notion that a candidate could come to the Falas FGPC and choose their own color of dragon, in any color imaginable, was alluring and while the thought hadn't really entered Val's head until now, it appealed to him as well.

Especially after he had seen the outcome of the latest clutch to hatch at Falas, on the regular sands that is. The dam had been Golden Niayith, a daughter of the FGPC herself, and the clutch had been sired by the famous Sunset dragon Zenith, also of the FGPC. Val had always admired dragons, but when he had first seen Zenith, his breath had caught in his throat.

The clutch had been almost entirely made up of rare colored dragons, and seven golds had been hatched. Val had been present for the hatching, and had been saddened by the tragic events that followed, but he wouldn't allow depression to sink in again, especially not with the FGPC clutch due to hatch so soon. So when the scientists and searchriders came about to collect information and check the candidates that had already arrived before the color choice was thrown open, Val was ready.

It was early night when one of the scientists, accompanied by a searchrider, finally made it to Vallendel. He was one of the first ones to have signed up, so thus was one of the last to be 'searched' again, so after answering a few questions the stately female scientist asked, he turned to the searchrider, J'ril, rider of Black Delduwath if his memory served him. "Sir, am I acceptable for the FGPC?" The searchrider smiled, leaning forward in his chair to pat Val on the shoulder. "Course you are son, I heard about you from P'mir, no need to fret." Since Val hadn't been fretting, he wondered at the statement, that was until they asked him the question he had been waiting for.

"So Vallendel, is there any color you would prefer to see stumbling your way on hatching day, and any you wouldn't?" Though he had been expecting the question, Val still felt his heart pounding against his ribs. Turning to the woman he allowed a hint of a smile to cross his features, "Ma'am, any dragon would be wonderful, but, if it is at all possible, I would like to see a dragon with the patterns of Sunset Zenith, but the color of the night sky we currently sit beneath." he said, his silver eyes almost glowing in his barely contained excitement. J'ril stifled laughter and the woman smiled broadly. "Poetic are we Vallendel? Well, I'll put you down as wanting a Night dragon, how does that sound?" Val nodded feverishly, then stood quickly and inclined his head as the two stood as well. "Thank you both so much, and good night." he said and ran off towards the barracks and a night of pleasant dreams of hatching day
